ABOUT US
Established in 1967, St. Marys Area Ambulance Service is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Charitable Organization that has rendered nearly 200,000 calls for service. Our annual budget is approximately $1.3 million and we are governed by a board of directors. We are the PRIMARY 911 response for the City of St. Marys and the Borough of Johnsonburg, as well as paramedic assist for Fox, Jay, and Benezette Townships and for all of Cameron County.
Built in 1996, our facility is located at 773 Johnsonburg Road adjacent to Penn Highlands Elk. Our living quarters consist of a kitchen, dining room, living room, and six sleeping areas with bathroom and shower accommodations. Our garage area contains six vehicle bays which house our five fully stocked basic and advanced life support ambulances as well as our paramedic interceptor.
Our staff is comprised of full time and part time staff as well as volunteer EMT's and EMSVO's. We always have two full crews consisting of one paramedic and one EMT on station at all times and available to take emergencies calls 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Our vehicles were all purchased new and are maintained to stringent manufacturer standards. We have five Type 1 ambulances with the most recent purchased in 2019. All of our ambulances are equipped with Stryker PowerPro as well as Ferno iN/X Integrated Patient Transport and Loading Systems. These units are state of the art and are the safest stretcher and system available for patients and our crews. Additionally, each ambulance is equipped with a Lifepak 15 Cardiac Monitor, and we have one transport ventilator.
We have been re-licensed in 2023 by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for Advanced Life Support Squad, Advanced Life Support Ambulance, and Basic Life Support Ambulance. Our Paramedics and EMT's are the top of the line, most well trained and certified professionals around. They are dedicated to being the best that they can be and are ready to care for you in your time of need.
Our facility is available for any resident at any time to come and tour our facility, unless of course we are on an emergency call. Just call our station at (814) 781-1571 and ask to visit our station and meet our staff, we would be more than happy to have you!
